SERIES Statement

Everything springs from a source. No experience is arbitrary, no space is insignificant. The reference photos used for Small is What I Can Give Completely were taken in familiar places that might have seemed trivial at the time. But looking back, it was the generic nature of those spaces that made them so comforting and beautiful.

Each painting in the series measures 4”x4”. Why 4”x4”? Because that is the amount of painted surface space that life currently allows me to fully engage with. Being a work from home mom directs how I pursue my studio practice. For now, short painting sessions after my family is asleep for the night is what fits.
